Who Is Brooke Young?
Born and raised in a small North Carolina town, I am accustomed to a tight-knit community prioritizing each other’s success. I feel like growing up with so much land to run and grow allowed me the freedom to create and express myself. From being outside in the mud to being grounded for reading too much, I would have never expected myself to be here.
I am a rising senior in the UNC Hussman School of Journalism, studying Advertising and Public Relations and a History major with an ancient and medieval concentration. These two majors intersect in such fundamental ways that, as a historian, I understand the importance of documenting a story and, as a journalist, understand how to do so.
Being a friend is one of the largest and most important parts of my life. It is something that I prioritize above most, as I find that you must be the friend you want. I try to surround myself with good people, and have found some of the best people to lean on during my hardest times. I can’t wait to continue to grow with the love around me.
