More Than Muscle
Our first assignment of the semester was a short film; the only instruction was to interview someone with a story. Consequently, my roommate had just begun her bodybuilding journey, and it was a large topic in our household. I really enjoyed the interview process, as I was able to watch the story unfold and become more than I had originally thought it would be. It was a super cool introduction into the film-making process, as I was responsible for the entire production.

Attendance Mandatory, Health Optional
This short film explores the life of a college student living with chronic illness and how they have handled such an unexpected diagnosis. The protagonist, Lily Eubanks, is a very close friend of mine, and I have watched firsthand the toll chronic illness has taken on my friend. While sitting down to interview her, the conversation was filled with the blessings and lessons chronic illness has brought her. I was in awe of her positive outlook and have been so grateful she allowed and trusted me to share her story. Without this class assignment, I would have never been able to share such an intimate moment with Lily, and that’s one of the reasons I love journalism.
Ray Bands Commercial
During my time as a student in Media Ethics, we learned how to ethically report a story and were tasked with doing so. Now, media ethics typically concern the way in which information is gathered or reported, so it might leave you wondering what exactly this project has to do with ethics…Honestly, I don’t know, but editing and producing this commercial was my favorite part of the class. I got to combine both my music taste and advertising creativity to produce an assignment.
